After announcing that it had gained more than a million new users since the presidential election, Bluesky‘s popularity just keeps growing. The site now has over 16 million users, many mentioning an exit from X, the social network formerly known as Twitter.
Last week, the five-year-old microblogging site from Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey announced that over 1 million people signed up for it in the last 24 hours, “one of the busiest days for the platform,” per TechCrunch. Bluesky is a decentralized social media where users create their own servers on which they can store data and set their own rules instead of using servers owned by the company.
Meanwhile, Meta said this week its app Threads, another X rival which claims it has 200+ million users, had received 15 million sign ups in November.
