Shape the sales and catering success of multiple destination resorts renowned for delivering unforgettable family experiences. The Area Director of Sales and Catering position is responsible for leading dynamic onsite teams, devising and executing strategic sales initiatives, and cultivating industry partnerships across assigned regional properties. This role champions the pursuit of enhanced guest satisfaction and exceptional revenue performance within a thriving hospitality environment.

A skilled Area Director of Sales & Catering is sought to oversee all commercial aspects of the resort’s market presence, ensuring strategic coordination and consistently exceptional results that surpass stakeholder and guest expectations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Oversee sales teams at assigned resorts to execute sales strategies and achieve financial targets.
  • Maximize profitability by meeting assigned financial objectives and preparing annual budgets.
  • Target group room revenue on low occupancy dates to enhance overall property revenue.
  • Proactively drive event space utilization and grow catering revenue per square foot of meeting space.
  • Recruit, select, train, coach, and lead high-performing sales team members.
  • Build relationships with local/regional trade groups, CVBs, and key business leaders to deepen market presence.
  • Develop and monitor weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales action plans to achieve revenue and guest satisfaction goals.
  • Ensure compliance with resorts’ policies and procedures, leading the implementation and monitoring efforts.
  • Analyze market trends—including competitor pricing and events—to adjust strategies and win market share.
  • Maintain a visible presence at assigned properties, spending at least 60% of time in the field.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Communications, Marketing, Business, or Hotel Management.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in sales, event planning, and/or catering within hospitality.
  • Minimum 3 years’ supervisory or leadership experience in the hospitality field.
  • Proficiency with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to travel regularly, with at least two trips per month to assigned resorts.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for exceeding quality standards.
  • Positive, enthusiastic energy and a commitment to outstanding customer service.
  • Experience with hotel Sales & Catering Systems such as Delphi and/or Opera preferred.
