Hawaii Gov. Josh Green has allocated $6.3 million to boost tourism recovery, addressing economic challenges from the 2023 Maui fire and a potential drop in arrivals from California after the recent Los Angeles County wildfires. Los Angeles is Hawaii’s largest source market, accounting for 9.1% of all visitor arrivals in 2024 and 30.2% of all visitors from California.
The funds, sourced from the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism’s existing budget, aim to sustain local businesses and jobs by increasing visitor traffic, particularly from Los Angeles, Hawaii’s largest source market.
