In response to Visit Florida, which recently (and controversially) removed its website page dedicated to LGBTQ travelers, Connecticut has made its position clear.
On Tuesday, the state announced a new ad campaign built around inclusion, including digital outreach to LGBTQ people in Florida, “inviting them to discover what makes Connecticut a welcoming alternative.” With LGBTQ+ History Month approaching in October, Connecticut’s tourism office is underscoring the state’s ongoing tradition of embracing diversity, reminding residents and tourists alike that the Constitution State is a welcoming place for all, regardless of sexual orientation or identity, reports TravelPulse.
“Our message is clear,” Anthony Anthony, Connecticut’s chief marketing officer, said in a news release. “In Connecticut, everyone is welcome. Unlike Florida which has removed LGBTQ+ resources from its tourism website, we are proud to prominently feature out commitment to inclusivity across all our platforms, including CTvisit.com. Our marketing efforts showcase Connecticut as a beacon of safety, acceptance, and opportunity for all, ensuring our state remains a destination where everyone can truly belong.”
Additionally, Connecticut will spotlight LGBTQ+ friendly businesses, events, and communities on its tourism website, CTVisit.com, throughout October.
